A man who murdered his best friend and a former Metropolitan Police officer who raped a 16-year-old girl are among the people from Suffolk who were jailed this week.
Rakar Rahimi
Former Ipswich man Rakar Rahimi has been jailed for 25 years after he was found guilty of murdering his best friend.
Rahimi, 23, formely of Wellington Street, was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday following the "brutal" killing of Bako Azad Sheikha in Colchester's Distillery Lane on September 12 last year.
During a three-week trial, CCTV footage showed Rahimi filming himself waving a knife at Sheika after a row.
Rahimi then forced Mr Sheikha to drive his car to the scene of the attack, where he was then stabbed to death and run over.
Footage released by Essex police showed Rahimi leaving the scene in his friend's stolen car.
In court, Judge Christopher Morgan said: "In your haste you gave no thought as to where his [Mr Sheikha's] body was when you were reversing the car.
“The circumstances of Bako’s murder were brutal.
“You have left his family and friends and those who knew him in the community heartbroken.”
Adam Provan
Adam Provan has been found guilty of raping a 16-year-old and a woman while serving as a police officer.
Provan, 44, of Newmarket, committed the offences while offences while serving in the Metropolitan Police's East Area Command Unit.
At Wood Green Crown Court on Monday, he was convicted of six counts of rape of a fellow police officer, between 2003 and 2005, as well as two counts of rape of a 16-year-old girl in 2010.
He will be sentenced on August 21.
Ervin Reka
Ervin Reka has been jailed for two years after police found 16 wraps of cocaine in his car.
Reka, 29, of Longmeadow Way, Canterbury, was stopped by officers in Sudbury on May 21 this year.
During a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court, it was revealed that Reka, who arrived in the country illegally had become involved in the suppy of drugs to pay off a debt to those who had brought him into the country.
