A county lines drug dealer who was delivering cocaine to drug users in Bury St Edmunds using the postcode delivery method has been jailed for 30 months.

Sentencing 31-year-old Kristian Enchev, Judge Emma Peters told him: "Every county line operation needs delivery drivers and you were an essential cog in the wheel".

Enchev was stopped by police after he was seen driving the wrong way in Cornhill in Bury St Edmunds shortly after midnight on Saturday, June 3 this year, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Cocaine weighing 18g was found in the car and messages found on his phone showed he was delivering cocaine to drug users in Bury St Edmunds for a county drug-line using the postcode delivery method, said Peter Gair, prosecuting.

Enchev, of Ipswich Road, Bury St Edmunds, admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply on June 3 this year and possessing criminal property, namely £1,200 in cash.

Joanne Eley, for Enchev, who had no previous convictions, said her client came to the UK seven years ago and was financially supported members of his family, who were still living in Bulgaria.

She said his function was restricted to him acting as a “runner” for the drugs.

The money found on him was to be given to the person giving him instructions and he had expected to be paid at the end of the week.
