After celebrating their six-year anniversary of being at the helm, the owners of a Suffolk pub say they want to continue championing watering holes across the county.

Nik and Victoria Underwood first took over The Swan in Clare's High Street in 2017.

The pair celebrated their anniversary of running the pub by opening their brand new play area in the beer garden.

"It looks really good. We are so pleased with it," said Nik.

"We had to get rid of the last one because it rotten inside. Just trying to find something was a bit of a task."

Nick is an experienced publican, having run several pubs in the area.

At a time when a number of pubs in Suffolk have been forced to close as a result of the rising cost, the pair want to be a voice for pubs in the community.

They added: "It is just really sad to see pubs close. We want to try to champion them as we want them open again.

"It is a ridiculous trade to be in at the moment, but as long as you are open to suggestions from the public and we are there for the community, you will get the support you need.

"It is all about working with people and knowing what they want."

After celebrating another year of being at the helm, they want to continue their involvement in the community.

"We are really proud of what we have achieved and how far we come.

"We have not done a charity event for a while so we are hoping to do that. We always try to do something for the local community."
