A former Great Cornard chiropractic clinic could become a children's home if newly-submitted plans are given the green light.

Applicant Able Healthcare Ltd is seeking change of use permission from Babergh District Council to develop the transform the former Scofield Chiropractic Clinic, at 11 King Hill, into a residential home for young people.

Proposals, published by the council on Wednesday, July 12, state that the late Victorian/early Edwardian villa would accomodate five children between the ages of eight and 17.

A total of 15 full-time staff members would operate a shift pattern from 7.30am to 3.30pm, 3.30pm to 11.00pm, and 11pm to 3.30am, and those working night shifts would be awake throughout.

Plans for the site include minor internal works to form a utility space, meeting space and offices on the ground floor. The opening up of one room on the first floor is also proposed.

The site, which is accessed via Kings Hill and has ample space for parking at the front and back of the property, also has a large garden.

Scofield Chiropractic Clinic moved to 62b North Street, Sudbury, last summer.
