A sweet shop in a Suffolk town has announced it will closed down due to challenges faced by the cost of living crisis and the Covid pandemic.

Auntie Pam's Sweet Shop will close its premises in Bury St Edmunds' Traverse on Saturday, July 29, having been in the town for nearly 20 years.

The company revealed challenges faced by the Covid pandemic, rising costs and the cost of living crisis have affected the store.

"It is with mixed emotions that we must inform you of the difficult decision we have made to close Auntie Pam's Sweet Shop," a statement on social media said.

"We write this notice with a heavy heart, but also with deep appreciation of your unwavering support and loyalty throughout the years.

"Since 2004, we have had the privilege of servicing our community and building a strong relationship with our customers.

"Your patronage has been instrumental in our success, and we are sincerely grateful for this.

"The decision was not taken lightly, and we understand the impact it may have on you, our valued customers."

Customers who have an unused loyalty card will not be able to redeem them ahead of the closure, but gift vouchers will be honoured.

"It has been an honour to serve you, and we will cherish the memories and relationships we have built.

"Thank you once again for being part of our story. We wish you all the best and hope our paths will cross again."
