A man has been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the A140 involving a lorry and a tractor.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the collision on the A140 in Earl Stonham at about 12.40pm on Wednesday. 

A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the road is closed.

"The road is blocked in both directions, between the Coddenham Crossroads and Mendlesham," said a spokesman for Suffolk police.

"The SARS team treated a male patient at the scene (lorry driver) for multiple serious injuries before accompanying him by land ambulance to hospital," said a spokesperson for Suffolk Accident and Rescue Service.

Three fire crews were in attendance.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The AA Traffic Map is showing there is heavy traffic in the area.
