Almost 40 tyres have been dumped on rural Suffolk farmland, with one resident labelling fly-tipping the 'scourge of the countryside'.

Harry Bunbury, a partner at Naunton Hall Farm Partnership, spotted the tyres discarded on their land in Rendlesham.

It is believed the incident happned overnight between Monday, July 31 and Tuesday, August 1.

"As a countryside lover and being a partner in a farm business, fly-tipping is just the scourge of the countryside," said Mr Bunbury.

"It is just beyond comprehensible that another human-being can, through the night, draw up to a gap in the hedge and lob everything it is someone's field and then drive off.

"It is such a bizarre concept to consider that is okay."

The dumped tyres were the latest fly-tipping incident to be reported in east Suffolk.

The discovery comes as bags of garden waste were left in Low Road, Little Glemham, on Tuesday.

An East Suffolk Council spokesperson said: “Fly-tipping is a selfish, destructive and criminal act.

"We would urge anyone who sees anything suspicious, or has any information concerning fly-tipping, to please report it by using our online reporting tool at www.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/fly-tipping."
