An inquest recorded a conclusion of natural causes contributed to by drug use for the death of a man from Mildenhall.

Darren Cobb, 36, died at home on December 30 last year.

The court heard that he had collapsed at his home, at which point his wife called an ambulance.

At the opening of Mr Cobb’s inquest at Suffolk Coroners' Court in Ipswich on July 21, the court heard that he had begun to feel unwell whilst driving the previous day, complaining of pain in his shoulders and chest.

When he arrived home, he went to bed, refusing his wife’s suggestion that they call for an ambulance.

The next day, Mr Cobb was still feeling unwell, sweating heavily and saying that his arms were causing him pain.

Mr Cobb collapsed in the afternoon of December 30.

At 5.31pm, he became unresponsive, and a 999 operator instructed Mrs Cobb to perform CPR, which she did until paramedics arrived.

However, he was pronounced dead at 5.38pm.

A postmortem found that Mr Cobb had been suffering from severe coronary artery atherosclerosis, which had been contributed to by amphetamine abuse.

The senior coroner for Suffolk Nigel Parsley recorded a conclusion of natural causes contributed to by drug use.
