A woman and a child have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the A12.
Emergency services were alerted to the collision on the southbound carriageway at Great Horkesley near Colchester, Essex at 9.25am on Monday.
A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were working to release two people trapped in their vehicle.
The A12 was closed in both directions, but reopened at around 1.40pm.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "One woman and a child, both with serious injuries, were transported to Addenbrooke's Hospital by air ambulance."
Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
