Two Suffolk seaside towns have been named as some of the best places to eat and drink in the UK.

Which?, the UK's leading consumer champion, has surveyed thousands of seaside visitors to determine which locations are the best for food and drink in the UK.

Two Suffolk coastal towns have made the list of the top five, and it isn't all about fish and chips.

Aldeburgh

Only two locations in the whole of the UK scored the maximum of five stars for the food and drink on offer: St Andrews, in Scotland, and Aldeburgh.

Aldeburgh has a great reputation for its fresh seafood.

The wooden shacks along the seafront sell the daily catch of the small fleet of local fishermen.

For freshly battered fish, head to the award-winning Aldeburgh Fish and Chip Shop or its sister property, The Golden Galleon, both on the High Street.

For a more upmarket meal, diners should head to The Suffolk, a new restaurant that serves freshly-caught lobster.

People on the hunt for ice cream have a range of locations for the cold sweet treat, including Harris & James, The IceCreamery and Ive's Ice Cream Parlour.

Aldeburgh also hosts a yearly food festival at nearby Snape Maltings, which shows off all of the best local produce and is happening on September 23 and 24.

Southwold

Southwold has a brewery at the heart of the town: Adnams. Famed for its range of gins, beers and ciders, Adnams have several stores dotted around East Anglia and has been brewing since 1876.

Adnams also owns two hotels, The Crown and The Swan, which serve fresh food and have lovely sea views.

While there is a plethora of fish and chip shops in the small market town, Sole Bay Fish Company continues to be mentioned across the nation as the best and sits on the harbour next to an array of fresh fish shacks.

Those looking for delicious baked goods should head to Two Magpies Bakery to stock up on fresh sourdough, filled pies and a range of pastries and sweet treats.
