A planning application has been submitted for six new flats to be built in a Suffolk town.

Plans submitted show six flats, constructed in the form of a three-storey building in Stowmarket, on land off Creeting Road West.

The proposed flats will occupy the site where planning permission has been granted for the erection of a three-storey office block, which has been left vacant due to a lack of demand.

All flats will be one-bed, with the planning statement claiming they would provide a 'significant social benefit for the town'.

Each flat will be provided with two car parking spaces.

All flats will have a similar design, with an open-plan kitchen/living/dining area, and one double bedroom.

The plans state the accommodation will be suitable for young persons taking their first step on the property ladder, or elderly persons looking to downsize.

The proposed flats are not materially different to the previously approved office block, meaning heritage will not be impacted should the application be approved.
