A family home at a wedding venue near Ipswich could be transformed into bridal party accommodation in new plans.

An application by the landowners seek permission from Mid Suffolk District Council to change the use of Copdock Hall Farm House, on the site of the already-established wedding venue Copdock Hall, for use as part of the venue.

Copdock Hall Wedding Venue, a grade II listed Elizabethan tithe barn converted into function suite for weddings and events, was built in 1570 and opened as a venue in spring 2015.

Now, the applicant hopes to expand the business to include the farmhouse for the bridal party and their close family to use throughout the duration of their events.

Proposals seek no changes to the entrance, setting or gardens of the house, which is two-storey with a cellar, kitchen and breakfast room, sitting room, living room, playroom, study, laundry room, six bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Minor changes are planned to the internal arrangement of the property, with five bedrooms planned for the first floor complete with en-suites.

Three bedrooms, also with en-suites, are proposed for the ground floor and would replace the dining room, living room, study and laundry rooms.

All structures, trees and planting would remain as they are.

There would also be no need for a new access route or any road alterations, as it is already accessible.

A statement submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council said the venue currently employs three full-time staff, six part-time staff and three self-employed staff members, as well as using local suppliers including florists and caterers.

The inclusion of the farmhouse as a bridal party suite would increase staff by around 12, with six full time and six part time.
