Suffolk businesses will be showcased in a new Channel 5 programme filmed in a Suffolk village.

Parts of Susan Calman's Summer by the Sea which explores holiday destinations across the county were filmed in Thorpeness.

The television comedian visited Mabel & Co, in Old Homes Road, to hear about their project using historic print plates.

She learned how the 1913 copper print blocks were found in the loft of the boathouse on the Meare.

Local people have been visiting the studio to select and print images, which depict Thorpeness at the very start of its transformation into a holiday village.

Co-owner of Mabel & Co, James Jenkins, said that the whole process had been a fascinating insight into the world of TV.

He said: "It was lovely to meet Susan and to show her the studio and shop, talk about the work we do and specifically the historic print project.

"She even selected one to take away with her as a souvenir of her visit."

The comedian and TV presenter will spend the main part of her trip in Southwold.

Unfortunately, viewing the stunning coastline from the sea proves to be more uncomfortable than she imagined, so she moves on to Walberswick.

The episode will air on Friday, August 18, on Channel 5.
