Could this be the most haunted place in Britain?

Bury St Edmunds might take that title with all the Halloween chills and thrills taking place in October half term. 

If you're looking for a bit of a fright or fancy going on an eerie churchyard tour then one of these events might be perfect for you. 

1. Scaresville Haunted Village

Enter Scaresville - The Haunted Village at Kentwell Hall for a live action, immersive experience. 

Inventive 'scares' will make you scream with fear as you visit an old village that locals whisper about. 

Ghost, ghouls and other creatures stalk the night- are you brave enough to investigate?

Tours are nightly from October 11 to October 22 with additional tours on October 27, 28 and 29.

Tickets are available in advance for £24.95 or on the door for £29.95.

2. Ghostly and Macabre guided walking tour

Bury St Edmunds Tour Guides will take you on a haunted journey telling stories of murder, riots, witchcraft and a mummified cat. 

The tour starts with screaming skulls in Moyse's Hall and ends in the deserted Great Churchyard. 

Tours begin on Halloween weekend (including Tuesday October 31) and will continue on every Friday until March 22.

Tickets are £10 per person and participants must be aged over 14 due to the content of the tour.

3. Pick your own pumpkin 

Rougham Estate has a field full of thousands of pumpkins, squashes and gourds just waiting to be picked. 

Visitors can grab a wheelbarrow and choose their perfect pumkins to carve into this Halloween. 

There are also sandpits, pedal tractors, pumpkin games and special selfie opportunities for all to enjoy.

Entry is free as you pay per pumpkin from select dates starting on September 30.

4. Halloweenies

Another Kentwall Hall event for little witches and wizards to enjoy some spooky Halloween fun.

Take part in immersive challenges and activities around the buildings, gardens and grounds.

You can even come dressed in your favourite Halloween outfit.

Halloweenies runs from Sunday October 22 to October 29 from 10.30am-4pm.

5. Ghost Stories by Candlelight

What happens when the ghosts of the past creep up on us today?

Gather close for a candlelit evening of chilling, contemporary ghost stories and haunting new folk music from the 'Witch Counties' of East Anglia. 

The performance is on Friday, October 13 at the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds.

Tickets start from £12 per person.
