Oktoberfest coming to Beach Street, Felixstowe this month

Last year's Oktoberfest at Beach Street in Felixstowe sold out, with more than 200 people congregating in the last events space for a night of beers, bratwurst and boogying.

Craft ale and spirit company Hopsters has announced that it will be returning to host the event for the second time - and has plenty planned after the success of last year.

"We have a genuine German brewer called Uli, who owns The Krafty Braumeister brewery based right here in Suffolk. 

"He has created a specially-brewed Oktoberfest beer for our celebrations this year and is an incredible guy."

Uli Schiefelbein is the mastermind behind the brews. Mr Schiefelbein retired from the German police force in 2013 and launched his own brewing company in 2018 in Suffolk, along with his wife Auriol. 

The Krafty Braumeister has won a string of awards for its beers, and Mr Schiefelbein will be at the event on Saturday, September 30.

"We have also booked a full Oompah band who are amazing," Mr Barnes said.

"They start with traditional German music and then play covers of 80s hits later on. 

"They played last year and were brilliant.

"It's going to be an absolute party and it is guaranteed to get you dancing."

Currywurst, bratwurst and pretzels will be available to buy on the night from visiting suppliers.

For those not keen on beers and ales, this year Hopsters will have a selection of wines and spirits on offer during the event as well.

Oktoberfest will be held at Beach Street in Felixstowe on Saturday, September 30 between 6pm and 11pm.
