Suffolk villages and beaches named best to visit in the UK

Although a weather warning has been issued for parts of the county this weekend, it does not affect the Suffolk coastline. 

Here are five nationally recognised coastal beauty spots you can enjoy this September.

1. Southwold 

Southwold's beach is regularly featured in lists naming the best in the country.

Most recently the coastal town was named among the best seaside destinations in the UK by the Daily Express. 

It has also picked up the prestigious Blue Flag award for the quality of the beach, the way it is managed and the facilities it offers to visitors.

The seaside town is also home to some of the best fish and chip restaurants in the county which are well worth a visit. 

2. Felixstowe

Felixstowe has always been a popular destination for people when visiting the Suffolk coast.

However, the town is growing in popularity with more things for people to do, including the new Ferris wheel. 

Felixstowe was also named one of the best places to live in the East of England in March. 

3. Aldeburgh 

Aldeburgh, which has probably one of Suffolk's most peaceful beaches, is well worth a visit. 

People who visit Aldeburgh can enjoy a walk along the Sailor's Path, as well as wandering toward Thorpeness to see the House in the Clouds.

4. Walberswick 

Close to Southwold, Walberswick is definitely worth a visit this September.

The tranquil Suffolk beach was recently named one of the best in the country. 

5. Dunwich

Earlier this year The Times named Dunwich in the top 50 best beaches in the UK.

Dunwich was a huge settlement in the Anglo-Saxon period, but most of the area has been lost due to coastal erosion.
