An entrepreneur is following her lifelong dream by opening a café in the village where she has lived for 15 years.

Rachael Brown, from Long Melford, has worked in the hospitality industry for a number of years and has previously managed The Swan pub in the village.

During that time she has always dreamed of owning her own café, which is now going to come to fruition.

"It has actually happened really quickly," said Rachael.

"I have been wanting to do it for as long as I can remember. I never thought it would happen - the stars just aligned.

"I have just always wanted to have one in Melford. It is just really exciting."

Named Brown Sugar, the café will be located next to the St Nicholas Hospice Shop in Long Melford's High Street.

Initially, Rachael will be doing both sweet and savoury bakes, as well as tea and coffee, before adding light lunches to her repertoire.

The café is currently being renovated ahead of its grand opening on Saturday, September 23.

Brown Sugar will be open 8am to 3pm between Tuesday and Saturday.
