An application has been submitted for a new 420-place primary school and 30-place pre-school on vacant land in a Suffolk village.
The application was made to Suffolk County Council, received on August 21, for the new primary school and early years pre-school on the land off Station Road in Lakenheath, west Suffolk.
According to planning application documents, the existing 315-place Lakenheath Primary School is expected to be at full capacity due to recent housing development in the area.
A previous planning application was approved for a 210-place primary school and 30-place pre-school on the site, but this has since expired.
The site, farm land of around 8 acres, is located within close proximity to the Air Force base and so the application states that the choice of materials aims to mitigate additional background noise.
The new development would also include a new access road from Station Road, along with ample parking spaces as well as charging points for electric vehicles.
The development would create 59 car parking spaces, three disability spaces, 70 cycle spaces, 240 scooter spaces, and two motorcycle spaces.
