A barn in Clopton could soon be converted into four new homes.

Plans have been submitted to the council, which suggest converting Moat Hall Barn in Martins Lane in Clopton, near Woodbridge.

A planning statement prepared by the Ipswich-based Ben Elvin Planning Consultancy explained that the barn is currently used for agricultural storage.

The proposal to convert it into four homes, it said, is similar to one made in the 1990s, which converted the neighbouring Moat Farm Barn from a barn to a home.

Drawings show that, if accepted, a row of four terraced houses will be created. On the ground floor, each home will have a sitting room, a laundry room, a downstairs bathroom and a kitchen and dining area. They will each have two bedrooms located on the first floor.

The planning statement said that car parking would also be provided, but did not give details as to how many spaces would be allotted to each home. The homes would also have their own gardens, providing “private and enclosed amenity space for future occupants”.

East Suffolk Council has set a determination date for a decision of November 17.
