A car park in a west Suffolk town will be closed for three days later this month for urgent repair work.

The Parkway Surface car park in Bury St Edmunds will be closed for essential resurfacing and relining work.

West Suffolk Council will carry out the repairs on the short-stay car park from Wednesday, October 18 to Friday, October 20.

David Taylor, cabinet member for operations at West Suffolk Council, said of the scheme: "The work is being timed to avoid clashing with other car park works, and ahead of the school half-term as well as the build-up to Christmas when there will be increased demand for parking spaces."

The multi-storey complex, which provides parking for both short and long stays, will not be available during the Wednesday, Thursday, and most of the Friday.

Cars will not be able to enter the multi-storey after 6pm on Friday, October 20 as resurfacing of the entrance and exit lanes will be taking place.

Cars already parked there will still be able to exit.
