A former clothes shop which closed earlier this year could become home to a popular bookshop chain as plans for new signage have been submitted to a council.

M&Co at 10 North Street in Sudbury closed its doors for the last time in April after the company entered administration last December.

Now, new plans for the unit have been submitted to Babergh District Council which seeks permission to put up three advertisement signs for a Waterstones bookshop.

The proposals would see the M&Co blade sign removed from the building and replaced with a Waterstones sign.

Large Waterstones lettering will replace the main shop sign with a smaller Waterstones sign on the brick facade of the building to the right.

The plans state that the existing shop front would be retained and repainting would take place where necessary.

Plans also suggest a new paint colour for the building is still to be confirmed.

Waterstones currently has locations in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Lowestoft.
