A pub group is showing off its dog-friendly status with its  'yappy hour' events this autumn.

Most are familiar with the concept of happy hour, which is when pubs offer discounted drinks during certain hours of the day.

Few have heard of 'yappy hour,' however, where anyone who brings in their pet pooch to the designated Chestnut property will be able to purchase half-price drinks at the bar.

"Our Yappy Hour gatherings highlight that our country and coastal pubs are dog-welcoming, embracing dogs as family and catering to their cravings for treats and attention," said a spokeswoman for the Chestnut Group.

"Guests and their furry companions can discover our doggy menus, cozy bedrooms, and prime locations."

Over 60 pooches have attended the four yappy hours hosted around Norfolk and Suffolk so far, which are designed to help dogs socialise while their owners enjoy a discounted drink and a chat to other pet-lovers.

The final Yappy Hour of the season will take place this evening, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm at The Westleton Crown near Dunwich.

From 5pm to 7pm, there will be a spooky pet portrait area set up for professional photos of guests' furry friends and a pet-friendly tarot reading stand.

This is the first event of its kind and is in partnership with dog treat brand Denzels.
