The owner of a new brewery and tap room in a Suffolk town says their first week has been a success, with locals firmly at the heart of their plans going forward.

Courtyard Brewery and Tap Room opened their doors in Gainsborough Street in Sudbury on Friday, October 6, after plans were first put forward in March.

The family-run business was first established in 2018, before opening a tap room in Halstead three years ago.

Leigh Skinner, area manager for the group, said: "It has gone really well. We have met some lovely people so far.

"It's a beautiful town. We love the market place and feel of the place. It's a really nice little town and we thought it is something the town needed."

The new establishment has a number of different ales, which are all brewed in Gosfield, for customers to choose from, as well as bottled lagers.

Mr Skinner added he is taking requests for beers from customers to give the brewery a personal feel.

He said: "I work my way up for what the locals ask me for. Every week I am getting in new stock and it is personalised to the people of the area."

The tap room is open 12pm until 8pm during the week, and until 9pm on a Friday and Saturday.
