A large house in a west Suffolk village could be transformed into a holiday let if plans submitted to a council are given the go-ahead.

West Suffolk Council has received a change of use application for the nine-bed Green Lane House in, Ixworth Thorpe, not far from Bury St Edmunds, to become a holiday let.

The house, which was built in 1976, has been significantly renovated since it was last purchased in 2021 and is complete with a six acre garden with a tree lined boundary, a swimming pool, a tennis court and stables.

According to plans submitted to West Suffolk Council, the bookings will be managed by a reputable online holiday let company, and the site with otherwise be managed by the applicant.

The applicant said the let would be aimed at the family market and would be an "exclusive retreat" in the Suffolk countryside.

"The house would also provide a modest long-term economic benefit from expenditure in the local area by guests but also by providing employment relating to the upkeep of the house in between lets and general maintenance," their statement said.
