Flood alerts remain in place across Suffolk as Storm Ciarán is set to hit the county. 

The Environment Agency has issued alerts for places such as Felixstowe, Ipswich and Bawdsey. 

It comes after a number of flood alerts were put in place earlier this week following a weekend of extreme rainfall.

A weather warning for strong winds and heavy rainfall was issued by the Met Office between midnight and 6pm on Thursday, November 2.

However, this has now been extended to 9pm on Wednesday, November 1, until midnight on Thursday. 

Winds of 70mph have been predicted for the coastal areas at around 5am on Thursday.

The Met Office has warned that these winds could be potentially damaging and said that there is a small chance that roads, bridges and railway lines could close, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights.

The Environment Agency warns people to avoid using low-lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.

It did not say for how long the alert would be in place.
