A new baking business has launched at a Suffolk market.

Louise Horobin had her first day of trading at Sudbury market on Thursday, November 9, after launching Lousie's Larder, a cake business based in Suffolk.

"I've always loved baking, so I thought I would give it a go," said Ms Horobin.

"It was really successful.

"The cupcakes drew people over and the tasters helped with our sales."

Ms Horobin has been teasing the new business on social media since the start of September, with images of a range of her bakes sparking excited anticipation in the comments.

"My family and friends encouraged me to take the next step," she said.

"I enjoy baking and seeing people enjoy my food puts a huge smile on my face."

Ms Horobin recently moved to Suffolk with her family from North London, where she worked as a primary school teacher for 14 years.

"It is my first time running a small business, and has worked out really well with having a two-year-old at home.

"I've sneaked the little one a taste here and there, who likes the icing in particular."

Not only does Louise's Larder stock cupcakes and cookies for the market but the cake company also accepts online orders for customers' favourites and celebration cakes.

Ms Horobin felt welcomed by the local market community.

"People were giving me tips about how to stay warm while working at the market and all the stallholders were so friendly," said Ms Horobin.

At the moment, Ms Horobin will be serving her bakes online and at the Sudbury market on Thursdays.

She will have a stand in The Bull Pub at the Long Melford Christmas Market, which will take over the village on Saturday, November 25.
