I have to be honest, as a cat owner I felt a bit unfair going to a café to cuddle other cats while my own baby was waiting for me at home.

But what won’t I do for you, dear readers?

On Sunday my partner Michael and I visited the newly opened Suffolk-only cat café.

Finnegan’s Whiskers is located on North Street in Sudbury, with very easy access to free parking.

When we were walking towards the café, I had already noticed people having a sneak peek through the window, watching cats playing inside.

I recommend you book a space in advance on the café's website to make sure you will get a table there.

The entry fee is £6.50 per person per hour.

As soon as we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by a waiter who talked us through the café rules and asked us to take our shoes off.

The rules are pretty simple: do not disturb the cats, let them come to you and, which might be tempting, do not bring them any snacks.

As we sat at our table, we were immediately greeted by two cats. The café provides many toys which you can use to play with them. They seemed to genuinely love it.

The café had nine cats at the time we were there, but the number is constantly changing as the visitors can adopt them.

I love the idea that you can spend some time with the cat, get to know its character and apply to take it home!

I told my partner that if we did not have Pumpkin waiting for us at home, we would take one with us. We even had two cats in mind!

I think I should now start talking about food, as this is a food review...

The menu had many things to choose from, with some cakes being already sold out.

I have to be honest, I wanted to try everything!

I went for hot chocolate, which was one of the best I have ever tried, vegan orange cake and Victoria sponge. Do not judge me.

Michael ordered a flat white, chunky sausage roll and triple chocolate brownie. We also got a raspberry lemonade.

We received our order in just a few minutes, but I would not mind waiting longer as I was busy playing with the cats.

I received two big portions of delicious cakes. I strongly recommend trying the orange cake, the frosting with orange skin on top was absolutely amazing.

Michael’s sausage roll was served cold, which surprised both of us. The brownie portion was a bit smaller than the other cakes.

The coffee was delicious and creamy.

I am used to our cat stealing food from plates at home, so I expected the café cats to do the same. But none of them were interested in our cakes, they just wanted our attention.

At the café, we could meet all variations of cat energy, from very playful ones to cats who were sleeping for the whole time we were there.

The place is very family-friendly, but the minimum age for children is eight.

I loved the armchairs where you can sit and enjoy your coffee while petting a cat on your lap.

Altogether we paid £21.75 for our food and £13 for the entrance fee.

In my opinion, Finnegan’s Whiskers café is a perfect place for a winter date. I would totally recommend you try out the place.
