A Bramford spa and health club is a step closer to rebuilding its swimming pool after a huge fire devastated a part of the building this summer.

Riverhills has appointed Colchester-based Cadman Construction to undertake the work of rebuilding the swimming pool and spa area.

A huge fire destroyed a quarter of the building on the outskirts of Ipswich in June.

The club reopened just a few weeks later, but significant work is needed in order to reopen the pool and sauna area.

Dave Courteen, managing director of Riverhills, said: “We are delighted to be in a position where construction work can start and very pleased to be working with Cadman Construction.

“This work which, once completed, will allow us to once again offer a full package of activities to members old and new.

“Cadman is a local business with a long and trusted history, and we are excited to see the completed project.”

The main works at the club are expected to be completed in the autumn of 2024.

Earlier this year, the company was named England & Wales Building Contractor of the Year at the construction awards of excellence.

Stuart Cadman, managing director of Cadman Construction, said that the company is “honoured” to be chosen to reconstruct the swimming pool and spa area at Riverhills.

He added: "Our experience in completing various leisure projects has equipped us with the skills and knowledge necessary to ensure the success of this project.

“At Cadman, we are deeply invested in supporting local communities and businesses, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to do so once again with this project.
