Dating back to Christmas 1840, it has become a tradition to start the Christmas celebrations by decorating a tree. 

But the question is do you get a real or fake tree to adorn with sparkling lights and colourful baubles?

From spruce trees to fur trees, here are seven places in Suffolk where you can by a real tree to decorate this Christmas.

1. Wrentham Christmas Trees

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday from 8am to 5.30pm

Visit Field Farm and pick your perfect tree from a group of spruce and fir trees, including the traditional Norway spruce.

The team can deliver your tree if you live within a 10 mile radius of the farm. 

2. Redhouse Christmas Barn

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday from 10am until 5pm (4pm on Sunday)

Redhouse Christmas Barn grow a variety of different trees on over 50 acres of land each year. 

There is also a Christmas shop to buy everything you need to decorate your tree.

3. Oak Farm Christmas Trees

Where: Oak Tree Farm, Woodbridge, IP12 4PR

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday from 9am until 4pm

Christmas trees have been grown at this family-run business for over 40 years. 

Every tree they sell is replaced by planting a new tree to remain environmentally friendly. 

4. Elveden Christmas Trees

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday from 8.30am until 5pm

Admire Christmas trees in all shapes and sizes from a 3ft potted tree to a 20ft tree for a grand entrance hall. 

Elveden Christmas trees are also sold for town and city displays across the UK and Europe.

5. Akenham Hall Farm

Opening Hours: 10am until 5pm between November 25 and December 23

Families can hand-pick the perfect focal points for their homes with Christmas trees, wreaths and decorations. 

A netting service is available once you have chosen your tree.

6. Hollow Trees Farm

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday from 8.30am until 5.45pm (8.30am until 5pm on Sunday)

From Saturday, November 25 a range of potted and pot grown Christmas trees will be on sale.

Wreathes, decorative trees and Christmas plants can also be purchased in the Farm Shop.

7. Church Farm Christmas Barn

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday from 9.30am until 5pm

For almost 30 years the family farm has been perfecting the growing process to make lovely Christmas trees. 

A range of decorations for the tree and the home are also on sale.
