A Christmas show featuring Irish dancing and hit festive anthems is set to take to the Ipswich stage this December.

Fresh from the West End and two sell-out tours of the UK, and Ireland, Fairytale of New York has announced a one-night tour date for the Regent Theatre on December 7.

Set in Central Park in New York, the musical numbers (a mixture of popular Christmas and Irish singalong songs) are intermixed with hard-shoe Irish dancing.

With a setlist including Driving Home for Christmas, White Christmas, Oh Holy Night, A Winter’s Tale, Silent Night and of course The Fairytale of New York, the show is guaranteed to fill the audience with Christmas cheer.

The popularity of the show means that two casts (made up of only 11 performers) will be performing simultaneously as the tour crosses the UK.

According to the show's creator, Ged Graham, the concept of Fairytale of New York was conceived when he was considering what to do with his kids when they had outgrown the classic pantomimes.

Fairytale of New York will be performed at the Ipswich Regent on December 7, with tickets available to purchase on the theatre's website.
