Seven new homes could be created in plans to redevelop an office block in a west Suffolk town centre.

Applicant Aorist Ltd has asked West Suffolk Council for permission to transform the offices and car parking area at 12 Looms Lane, in Bury St Edmunds, into six flats in a block and one separate home.

The site currently comprises of a vehicular access, a two-storey office building, parking area and a single-storey open-fronted car port.

The proposals would see the existing office building extended and retrofitted to create a townhouse-style building with the current car parking area becoming a single-storey home complete with landscaping and a green roof.

A statement to West Suffolk Council on behalf of Aorist Ltd said: "The site has been vacant for years despite best marketing efforts.

"In recent years the site has been used by people carrying out anti-social behaviour, including drugs and drinking."

There will be no parking spaces provided at the site in the plans.
