Traffic was brought to a standstill after a crash on the A14 near to the Orwell Bridge outside Ipswich.
There were huge delays on carriageway due to the incident on Wednesday morning.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said a car crashed into the central reservation barrier on the westbound carriageway.
No injuries were reported.
According to the AA Traffic Map, there were huge tailbacks in both directions.
