Two people have been taken to hospital following a four vehicle crash on the A14 near Newmarket.

The road was closed between junction 35 for Stow cum Quy and junction 36 for the A11. 

Suffolk Fire and Rescue were called just after 3pm and one engine from Newmarket attended to assist crews from Cambridgeshire.  

Ambulance services and police were also on the scene.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "“Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene.

"Two patients were assessed and treated at the scene, before being transported to Addenbrooke's Hospital for further care.”

The road has now reopened.
