Plans to expand a Suffolk pub by using a nearby home for accommodation has been submitted.

The proposal submitted by Ben Elvin Planning Consultancy is seeking the change of use of 91 George Street in Hadleigh to provide accommodation for The Cock Inn.

The application which has been submitted to Babergh District Council states the premises will either be used as a guest house or for staff depending on the business need at any given time.

The change of use can be carried out without any physical changes to the building, the statement adds.

The application states: "The proposal would provide accommodation to be operated by the Cock Inn.

"The ability of the public house to expand its accommodation offer will generate additional income for the public house, thereby assisting in securing its longevity and viability.

"This change can be made without any tangible impacts.

"Not only would the proposal support The Cock Inn, but it is clear that those occupying the accommodation would be highly likely to support other local communities and facilities through expenditure at facilities and services.

"There would be significant direct and indirect employment resulting from this facility, offering and supporting local jobs."
