A Grade II listed building currently classified for business used will be converted into a home after a council gave development plans the go-ahead.

Proposals for 8 Guildhall Street in Bury St Edmunds were received by West Suffolk Council in September which sought approval to change the building's use from business to residential.

The plans included converting the basement into a storage area, the ground floor into living area and fitting the second and third floors of the property with bedrooms, bathrooms/shower rooms and dressing rooms.

The home would have a total of three bedrooms across the two floors, one of which would have an attached shower room, as well as two dressing rooms and three bathrooms.

Downstairs there would be a dining room and kitchen as well as a sitting room to the back and a WC. There would also be a courtyard garden at the rear.

According to documents before the council, the property does not have, and has never had, associated parking facilities but is close to local schemes.

The plans were approved on December 14.
