Organisers of an annual tractor light parade are "over the moon" after spreading Christmas joy to thousands around Suffolk.

The streets of east Suffolk were filled with tractors, lights, Christmas music and cheer on Sunday as the Suffolk Tractor Light Parade returned for its second year.

A total of 94 tractors took part on the night, all decorated in Christmas lights and decorations.

A fundraising target of £2,000 was blown out of the water with initial figures from online donations and charity buckets surpassing £6,000.

Nearly 7,000 spectators turned out throughout the journey, which started from Clarke & Simpson's auction house in Campsea Ashe, before making its way through Wickham Market, Melton, Woodbridge, Eyke, Rendlesham and Tunstall.

Liz Quickenden, lead organiser, said: "We are over the moon with the response from the Suffolk farming community and of course, the public who took to the streets to cheer on our drivers as they made their way across East Suffolk.

"To have 94 vehicles partake in the event is staggering and they well and truly put on a show.

"The feedback we have had from people who watched has been overwhelmingly positive and all I can do is thank them for their support.

"Communities have come together and what they have achieved is nothing short of astounding.

"Because of them, we have been able to raise over £6,000 for two fantastic causes and more is continuing to come in."

The two charities benefitting from the parade, which was sponsored by NFU Suffolk Coastal, are Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue and Just42.

A date has already been set for next year's parade, which is set to take place on Sunday, December 15.
