Almost a dozen holiday lodges could be built in a village on the edge of a west Suffolk town if plans submitted to a council are given the green light.

Applicant Mr Keane is seeking change of use permission from West Suffolk Council to build 11 new holiday lodges and associated parking at Ravenwood Hall Hotel in Rougham, near Bury St Edmunds.

The proposed site, which is described as 'under-utilised tennis courts and grassland', would be accessed via Sow Lane and parking facilities would be extended to accommodate the extra guests.

A statement to West Suffolk Council on behalf of Mr Keane said the material and colour scheme for the lodges would be carefully considered to assimilate them into the countryside setting.

It said: "The proposals will aim to take advantage of appropriate sustainable technologies to maximise the sites overall sustainability, minimise energy use and maximise its recyclable context and re-use."

The site would be open all year round at the same time as the existing hotel, with check in at 3pm and check out at 10am.
