Thousands of homes have been left without power after Strom Henk batters the region with strong winds.

Mass power cuts have been seen all across Suffolk leaving many homes cut off this evening and into the night.

Over a thousand customers have been affected between Mildenhall and Bury St Edmunds after a fault with the overhead lines.

The outages were first reported 6.15am with engineers expected to fix the issue at around midnight.

Nearly a thousand homes near Ipswich have also been affected with a similar issue.

UK Power Network engineers are currently on the scene investigating the issue with the outages also expected to be resolved around midnight.

Power cuts on the coast near Orford and Leiston, in Wickham Market, and Ixworth near Bury St Edmunds are also experiencing issues. 

These issues are expected to continue through the nights as Storm Henk goes on, with an amber Met Office warning for wind in action until 8pm tonight.
