A blaze which destroyed a hedge and shed in Great Cornard on Tuesday night is believed to have been caused by a firework, police have said.

Fire crews were called to a blaze in Cats Lane at about 8.10pm with crews attending from Sudbury, Long Melford, Halstead and Colchester.

Smoke could be seen across the Sudbury area as firefighters tackled the flames for more than an hour.
