A woman has told of her shock at discovering a fallen tree on top of her car – meaning she is unable to move it.

Marian Baker thought her husband Mark was joking when he said their Daihatsu was underneath a tree on Monday morning.

But Mrs Baker swiftly realised he was being serious, with the tree completely covering the vehicle in Westhorpe Road in Finningham, north of Stowmarket.

A tree surgeon has been called and will remove it on Tuesday, when the extent of the damage will be revealed.

Mrs Baker said: "It was quite a shock. I looked out the window during the night and could see how windy it was.

"It was not the tree we expected to fall, to be honest. We haven't been able to clear it.

"The tree surgeon is coming and he will have to move it. There's no way you could move it without equipment.

"We just hope it's not going to be too expensive."

Storm Jocelyn is expected to arrive on Tuesday and bring wind speeds in excess of 50mph.
