The EADT Business Awards 2024 are now open for entries and we are eager to see who will be named this year's Suffolk Business of the Year.

The winner of Suffolk Business of the Year, sponsored by Sizewell C and Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, will be chosen from all other category winners and will represent the passion, innovation and resilience found across Suffolk’s business community.

Steven Carroll, supply chain engagement lead at returning sponsor Sizewell C, said that the EADT Business Awards are “a great opportunity for Suffolk businesses to showcase the diverse range of business talent we have here in the county”.

Nick Evans, vice-president of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce – also a returning sponsor this year – and UK site and sales director at Treatt, said: “The exceptional achievements of the 2023 entrants reinforced Suffolk Chamber of Commerce’s belief in celebrating business success.”

So, what does a business need to do to earn the title of Suffolk Business of the Year?

“As in previous years, we will be looking for businesses to demonstrate significant impact in the county,” said Mr Carroll.

“A holistic approach to success, where the company’s impact extends beyond financial metrics, will truly grab my attention,” said Mr Evans.

The theme of this year’s EADT Business Awards is sustainability – a hot topic in the business arena and beyond, but one that is essential for business growth.

“It’s not just a moral imperative but a strategic necessity for long-term viability,” said Mr Evans. “The Business of the Year must extend its focus beyond profits, considering its broader impact on the community and environment.

“Beyond financial success, businesses should contribute positively to their surroundings, fostering community relationships and embracing environmentally conscious practices.”

“Social value is an ever-increasing requirement within any supply chain,” said Mr Carroll. “It demonstrates that businesses are thinking about their impact both on the planet and their community. Putting something back will be key in judging this year’s winner.”

To be named Suffolk Business of the Year shows that a business has its sights set on more than just the bottom line, as the judges explained.

“It’s an opportunity to show potential clients and suppliers that they are dealing with a sustainable business that lives and breathes its company values,” said Mr Carroll.

“It serves as a validation of a business’ outstanding accomplishments over the past year, enhancing brand recognition and fostering a positive reputation within Suffolk,” concluded Mr Evans. “The recognition from such a distinguished accolade can open new doors and opportunities for growth.”

Criteria

The Suffolk Business of the Year award is a non-entry category, and all winners will be automatically entered.

The judges will be looking for a brand or organisation that has achieved outstanding things in the last 12 months. They will assess the company’s brand profile within its customer audience, its financial standing, community relations and environmental sympathies.

The winner of this award will be an organisation that Suffolk can be proud of.
