A council has "welcomed" a coroner's report that called for action after a mobility scooter user plunged five feet to his death off Felixstowe promenade.
East Suffolk Council has pledged to continually review all risk assessments on land it is responsible for after a report by Suffolk's senior coroner Nigel Parsley highlighted safety concerns on the resort's promenade following the death of John Gray in July 2022.
Mr Gray suffered multiple rib fractures leading to breathing failure after the scooter fell onto the beach in an area unprotected by barriers.

He was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment for his injuries, but his condition continued to deteriorate and he died on July 13.
Mr Parsley's report highlighted evidence presented at Mr Gray's inquest at Suffolk Coroners' Court that in other high risk locations with persistent long drops or drops onto concrete or rock sea defences, barriers were installed for safety.
In some places, signage or painted markings were used to highlight the risk of a fall.

An East Suffolk Council spokesman said: “We welcome the report from the coroner, which we will respond to in full and our thoughts are with those close to Mr Gray following this tragic accident.
“We continually review all risk assessments for land which the council is responsible for and we are identifying what further appropriate measures should be put in place to help ensure the safety of all users of the promenade."
