Football matches had to be cancelled after playing fields in a west Suffolk village were damaged.

Barton Mills playing fields were left unusable after being wrecked when tyre marks were left on the pitches.

The incident happened on Tuesday, January 23 and now Barton Mills Parish Council is pleading for the public's help in order to find who caused the damage.

A spokesman for Barton Mills Parish Council said the matches had to be called off as the pitches were deemed unusable.

The parish council added: "At great and unnecessary expense to the parish council and the tax paying community we will have to repair the damages. We hope this work will take place next week so the field can be used again.

"We apologise for the inconvenience.
