Plans are being considered for a new outdoor dining terrace and kitchen for a business in Stowmarket’s Design Quarter.

An application has been made to Mid Suffolk District Council for extensions to Italian café Passione D'Amore in Unit 2, Old Fox Yard, off Ipswich Street. The application seeks permission for alterations and extensions to the Grade II on the ground floor and terrace for outdoor dining at the first floor.

The extension will address the current lack of kitchen and seating space in the

listed building in Stowmarket town centre.

If approved, the works would involve a flat roof extension to create a new kitchen

two-storey café.

There will also be alterations to Unit 8, an empty site that faces the high street, creating a new door and opening.

The unit recently became vacant after hosting ArtSpace for the last six months, according to application documents.

Old Fox Yard features businesses in a 16th-century building. The courtyard is private land but is opened to the public when any of the businesses are open.

A consultation on the plans is currently underway.
