Bury St Edmunds is set to be the home of a new 80-bed care home which has been approved by planners.
West Suffolk Council has approved plans to build the care home as part of the Tayfen Road development.
In April last year, the council gave the green light for a development 171 homes in Tayfen Road.
The care home, which will be run by First Care Homes Bury Ltd, will be built towards the front of the 171-home development.
The care home will be equipped with 80 rooms which will be spread across four floors.
The bedrooms are positioned in such a way that they optimise their exposure to natural light, planning documents submitted alongside the proposals to the council said.
The floor plans split each floor into two wings, with dedicated day and dining space in each wing.
A separate single-storey training/garden room will be built in the enclosed garden grounds, also housing a garden store and toilet.
The design and access statement in the planning application said: "The proposals make a positive contribution to the character and appearance of Tayfen Road and the wider masterplan and provide a high-quality replacement building of an appropriate scale, mass and aesthetic."
Cycle stands, a water feature, refuse storage, mobility scooter storage and parking spaces, including two EV charging spaces, two disabled and one ambulance bay are also to be created through the plans.
Work on the care home is to begin within three years.
In 2016, the Tayfen Road masterplan included plans for a convenience store, with one earmarked to be located in the ground floor of one of the nearby flats being built in the Weston Homes development.
