Mildenhall Trinity Avenue potholes 'worst in west Suffolk'

Andy Neal, who represents Mildenhall Queensway on West Suffolk Council, said Trinity Avenue has been reported to Suffolk County Council, who are responsible for roads, on multiple occasions for its large potholes and uneven surface.

Cllr Neal said: "Trinity Avenue is probably the worst section of road in west Suffolk.

"This has been reported to Suffolk County Council multiple times and rather than filling in the potholes it has been agreed the section of road will be resurfaced.

"I was told it would be done sometime in March so we are only weeks away.

"It's very sad that a road should be allowed to get in such a poor condition. My sympathy sits with both residents and the workers repairing the roads, they are getting stick from the public on a daily basis when the fault lays with the management of the repair teams."

Cllr Neal, who has been vocal about potholes in the area in recent months, said deep holes seem to appear 'almost overnight on a daily basis' in the town. 

Meanwhile, Cllr Richard Alecock, who represents Mildenhall Great Heath on West Suffolk Council, said he will 'continue to strive for action and resolution to this issue.' 

"I was told by the county council that the road would need a complete resurface. However, I have not received any information from the county council as to when at this moment in time would be," he said.

"It is somewhat disheartening for our community when we see so many local residents doing their bit to enhance the good look of the environment we live in. But, the state of our roads brings the town down.

"Not only that, many of our roads are quite frankly in dangerous condition with seriously obstructive potholes on and off main roads and near schools like along Trinity Avenue," he added. 

A Suffolk County Council spokesperson said: "Trinity Avenue, Mildenhall is planned for road resurfacing this year. We will make contact with the community once the work has been scheduled."
