Drivers have been warned to expect delays of 30 minutes on the A14 in west Suffolk after parts of the road still battle with flooding.

Highways officials have warned that the disruption on the A14 in Newmarket is set to continue as two of the three lanes eastbound near junction 37 remain closed on Saturday.

This comes just after the road was closed overnight to try and clear the flood water.

At one point there were 11 tankers on the scene working to remove the water and it is estimated more than seven million litres of water has been removed so far.

A spokesman for National Highways said: "We're working with various partner agencies to identify the route cause of the flooding and stem it where possible.

"We appreciate your patience."

Heavy congestion has built on the road around the town with no sign of the flooding issues being resolved.
