A flood alert remains in place for a Suffolk town after heavy rainfall has left parts of the county saturated.

The Environment Agency has issued the alert for groundwater flooding in Bury St Edmunds.

It follows weeks of torrential downpours which have hit Suffolk.

The alert, which means flooding is possible, includes areas such as Eastgate Street, Barn Lane, Blomfield Street and parts of Vinefields.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said homeowners should be "ready to take action to protect your property."
