A person was rescued after a fire broke out in a flat in the early hours of this morning. 

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called to an address in Stowmarket Road, Needham Market, at 3am on Friday. 

Three engines from Princes Street, Needham Market and Stowmarket attended the scene with an additional engine from Princes Street stood down. 

A spokeswoman said crews used hose reel jets to bring the fire under control as well as using breathing apparatus and thermal imaging cameras to rescue one person.

The East of England Ambulance Service was also in attendance. 

A spokesman said: "We were called at 3.25am with reports of a fire in Needham Market. 

"We sent an ambulance and an ambulance officer vehicle. One person was assessed at the scene and declined transport to hospital."

A stop time for the incident was called at 4am.
