The streets of Stowupland were packed on Sunday morning as 330 runners took part in the annual half marathon.

Despite the rain, the 13.1-mile race was a huge success.

Runners took on a new route this year, weaving their way from Stowupland High School around Old Newton, Mendlesham and Mendlesham Green.

Rachel Oakley, chairman of Stowmarket Striders Running Club, said: “On behalf of the Club, I would like to thank Stowupland High School for allowing us the use of their premises as our base, the run director David Fields who, with the help, support and advice of Jo Stephenson organised every detail of the event over the past few months, to ensure a successful and enjoyable event.

“Also to the officials involved including referee Jo Mower, the adjudicator, radio operators, road closure operatives; and last but not least, our members, families and friends that came together as volunteer helpers and marshals on the day to give all our participants a great  racing experience.”
